B. Michael Korte, of The Korte Law Firm, LLC, recently announced that he had been successful in obtaining over $600,000.00 in benefits for an injured worker in a Missouri workers’ compensation claim.
The worker, an assistant manager at a “big box”-type store in Missouri’s “Bootheel” region, injured his back while carrying a suitcase full of currency from the store’s daily receipts.
“This is, I believe, the only case I have ever been involved in where a company approved disk replacement surgery,” noted Korte, and the surgery did not go well. Over $100,000 of medical expenses later, the worker is now totally disabled, and still needing medical care.
With Korte’s help, the worker secured not only a $300,000 cash settlement, but over $200,000 in future medical expenses, protecting both the worker’s social security and his Medicare status.
“One unique element of settling cases in this way” noted Korte, “is that we can do our best to avoid an offset by Social Security, and also make sure that the client remains on Medicare for his other health care needs. I was glad to be able to help him, and grateful that we could get it done for him in this manner,” Korte added.
